Poetry slam in Scandinavia

Denmark
Poetry slam has been around since 1998. There are a few pro poetry slammers, but most poets slam on occasion or for amateur purposes. There are regular poetry slams and spoken word events in Copenhagen, Fyn, Aarhus and Aalborg, and every year a National Championship in poetry slam. More info at current site or go to www.PoetrySlamDK.dk for info in Danish.

Sweden
Poetry slam started around the mid90s and has been big for many years, and today there are regular poetry slams and spoken word events in many cities all over Sweden, as well as an annual National Championship. All good info at www.estradpoesi.com

Norway
Poetry slam is relatively new in Norway, but the scene is growing, and today there are poetry slams in several cities. There has been an annual National Championship since 2005, coordinated by the organisation Foreningen !les. More info at www.poesislam.no or at www.foreningenles.no, and if you have any questions or want to perform as a poet etc. ask Kristine at kristine (at) foreningenles.no

In 2010, Denmark, Sweden and Norway teamed up and hosted a scandinavian cup in Aarhus, Denmark, and the winner was Oskar Hanska from Sweden. In 2011, the cup was held in Göteborg, Sweden, and the winner was Taro Cooper Vestøl from Norway. We’re hoping for a new cup in Oslo, Norway, sometime during 2012.
